Tuesday Tunes: Nataly Dawn – “I Love To Be With You”

Just rediscovered this song from Nataly Dawn of Pomplamoose.  Pomplamoose are AWESOME!  (If you’ve never heard of them, boy are you in for a treat!)  But Nataly is also quite cool.

Dedicating this song to my funny yet awesome fiance who is annoyed that I had to work today when he’s at home on holiday.  Haha we are so sad! xx

Tuesday Tunes: Lisa Crawley – “Leaving”

I was first introduced to Silver Scroll Nominee, Lisa Crawley, when she opened for John Mayer a couple of years ago in Wellington. I was struck by her creative songwriting, diverse instrumentation and great stage presence (she didn’t have a huge backing band to hide behind).

I don’t think I will ever get sick of this song. I’ve been playing it heaps lately. It’s funny though…I feel really happy when I listen to it but it’s not really a happy song…weird. Is it possible to have a happy break-up song? Maybe.

I think it’s the beautiful harmonising on this track that makes me happy.

Harmonies make the world go ’round.

Tuesday Tunes: All Sons & Daughters – “Reason to Sing”

This is my song today. I’m feeling pretty tired and it’s only Tuesday…got a late night at work and I NEED a reason to sing. I don’t want my songs to be void of feeling. I want my heart to be full and overflowing with love. Yet sometimes, all I can do is sit down and be still and let God sing over me.

Lyrics

When the pieces seem to shatter
To gather off the floor
And all that seems to matter
Is that I don’t feel you anymore
No I don’t feel you anymore

I need a reason to sing
I need a reason to sing
I need to know that You’re still holding
The whole world in Your hands
I need a reason to sing

When I’m overcome by fear
And I hate everything I know
If this waiting lasts forever
I’m afraid I might let go
I’m afraid I might let go

I need a reason to sing
I need a reason to sing
I need to know that You’re still holding
The whole world in Your hands
I need a reason to sing

Will there be a victory
Will You sing it over me now
Oh
Your peace is the melody
You sing it over me now
Oh Lord
Will there be a victory
Will You sing it over me now
Oh Lord
Your peace is the melody
You sing it over me now

I need a reason to sing
I need a reason to sing
I need to know that You’re still holding
The whole world in Your hands
That is a reason to sing

Tuesday Tunes: Fly My Pretties – “You Know Now”

Fly My Pretties has become a bit of a New Zealand institution. It’s a collaboration of a number of artists from around the country (mostly Wellington), who come together to record a live album every now and then. I think they’ve done 3 so far.

This track features L.A. Mitchell and is on their brand new album…coming out on March 19th. It’s groovy!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Tuesday Tunes: Audrey Assad – “Blessed Are The Ones”

I’ve been mulling over this song today. Audrey Assad is an inspiration to me. She shines with the beauty of Jesus. Thank you Audrey for being so brave and singing out the truth for us all to hear. More of her story here.

Lyrics:

“We’re tossing pennies in the well
Empty pockets all turned out
Happy shining blessed are the ones who hunger

When our poverty is plain
I’ll try to burn it in my brain
Trace a line around your face to paint a picture

So further up and further in we have nowhere else to go
As we plant the seeds of toil and tears
It’s beauty we have sown

Blessed are the ones
Oh blessed are the ones
Blessed are the hungry ones

Lets build a house with turned out doors
So we can share what love affords
Pour ourselves out like a wine that we’ve been saving

When our well is running dry
And when we raise our glasses high
And we’re shining on the faces of the thirsty

So further up and further in we have nowhere else to go
But you give us seeds of toil and tears
It’s beauty we have sown

So blessed are the ones
Oh, blessed are the ones
Blessed are the thirsty ones

Love is all yeah love is all
Love is all yeah love is all
Love is all we need

So further up and further in we got no place else to go
And when all we have is what we need
It’s joy that we will sow

Blessed are the ones
Oh, blessed are the ones
Blessed are the hungry ones

We are blessed”
